The shellacking of the West Indies by England in the One Day Series has plunged Windies’ cricket fans into great despair, gloom, and doom.
The Windies team failed to exhale as they were collared and clobbered in the third game of the one-day series. It was their third straight defeat and a three-nil series loss — a white wash by the men from England.
The crushing 186 runs defeat at the Kensington Oval in Barbados was too much for some fans and their wailing in blogosphere continues to be loud and unfettered.
Batting first, England posted a mammoth total of 328 all out.
The massive total was built around centuries from Alex Hales and Joe Root.
Hales struck 9 fours and 5 sixes in his top-score of 110, his 5th ODI hundred while Root registered his 9th ODI hundred, 101 which included ten fours. The two put on 192 for the second wicket.
Alzarri Joseph was the pick of the Windies bowlers with 4-76 while Jason Holder picked up 3-41.
Windies played loosely in their turn at the wicket and had no answer to the English bowlers. They were bowled out for 142, under the 50 allotted overs.
The only standout batters for the Windies were Jonathan Carter 46 and Alzzari Joseph 22 not out.
Chris Woakes with 3-16 and Liam Plunkett 3-27 were the pick of the English bowlers.
In the meantime, Windies cricket fans were unhappy campers and made no bones about it.
Some of the comments made following Windies three — nil loss includes:
I don’t see any changes in WI as long as we have Dave Cameron in charge. He gets rid of all the senior players and then expects the team to just do well? He pretty much gets rid of anyone who speaks their mind. Simmons, Sammy. And both were right. Samuels turns down the WI contract and he is dropped.
When Dave and Wavell were re-elected unopposed, maybe no one cared enough anymore to oppose them?
Isn’t that consistent with the crowd “support†we saw for the WI team in the recently concluded ODI series?
New Zealand is proof of a team for years (well not now) with no greater talent than WI but greater mental application and toughness. I have analyzed the stats for years…watch these same players like Powell and Lewis beat up on Bang and Zim…..Tino Best used to excel against Bang…Braithwaite and Kirk Edwards have high test averages against them. Our A team just thrashed Sri Lanka A in Sri Lanka in two formats…what does that tell you? I personally feel the territorial squads would put up a greater fight than the regional WI most times nowadays.
For this embarrassment to all WI Cricket fans by clueless and Insular Selectors who choose to select a Barbados International XI Test Team rather than selecting a genuine WI ODI team, choosing National Pride over WI Victory. They all need to be change for selectors with real WI cricket at heart!
Lemme hear if Cameron and co on the WICB will at least offer dem resignation. The buck stops with Cameron $ Co. No amount of deflections will alter that fact. And in organizations which hold the apex accountable, they would be eating dirt by now. Don’t put the blame on the players on the field. They are mere lambs to the slaughter.

I hope that I will see the West Indies back at the pinnacle of world cricket in the future. However, based on all that is happening, this might never come to fruition in my lifetime.
