Nottinghamshire are weighing up another move for West Indies Twenty20 star Andre Russell, as they seek to strengthen for next summer's T20 Blast.

The 29-year-old impressed in three outings for the Outlaws last season and new head coach Peter Moores said the English County side was monitoring his availability with the hope of once again securing his services.

“I would think Andre Russell is at the top of most people's lists to sign. He's very much someone who bowls with pace and he hits the ball as cleanly as anyone in the game,” said the former England head coach.

“We've also seen from his time here already that he's great to have in the dressing room.

“The big issue with signing overseas players remains availability, when teams around the world want the best players.”

Doubt surrounds Russell's availability this year as he faces a potential two-year ban from the sport if he is found guilty of a doping whereabouts violation. The all-rounder is alleged to have missed three drugs tests in the space of 12 months.

The hearing before the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission wrapped up late last year but the verdict is yet to be handed down.

Russell was recently forced out of the Australia Big Bash with a hamstring injury is set to be out for up to six weeks.
