The Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board has extended its congratulations to Trinidad and Tobago Red Force all-rounder, Yannick Ottley on earning his undergraduate degree from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine.
On Thursday, the all-rounder graduated with a BSc in Information Technology from the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science. The 25-year-old is currently preparing with the Red Force team for the Digicel SportsMax 4-Day tournament which bowls off on November 11.
“On behalf of the TTCB I would like to congratulate Yannick Ottley on this important academic milestone. Yannick continues to make the TTCB proud with his accomplishments on and off the field and is a true role model for the younger players in out setup,†said TTCB president, Azim Bassarath.
He continued, “Through hard work and dedication, Yannick has shown that it is possible to obtain a first class education while playing sport at the highest level. What has impressed me more is Yannick’s quest for more knowledge. He could have been satisfied with the undergraduate degree but has already started his postgraduate studies and this shows you his character.â€
Earlier this year, the TTCB president signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine to promote cricket research and aid cricket development. Currently the TTCB is in the process of working with the University of the West Indies to develop a proactive schedule for Ottley and off-spinner Bryan Charles to attend classes and take exams while being allowed to represent the Red Force.
