Although receiving a lot of flak from pundits and fans, West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) President Dave Cameron is standing by the decision made to get rid of former coach Phil Simmons.
Simmons was relieved of his duties just days before the Windies departed the Caribbean shores for their tour matches against Pakistan.
The Windies, so far has had no luck in the games played against the Pakistani, losing all seven international matches during the series.
However, Cameron is adamant the right decision was made.
In an interview report, President Dave Cameron said, “If you felt that the decision was the right one but the timing was bad, why would you prolong a bad situation? Leadership is management and you are always going to have issues around that. Our hope is that in years to come we’ll be able to reflect on this period in West Indies cricket, look at the transition and realize that we made some bold steps and the right steps.â€
Furthermore, Cameron pointed to the ‘A’ team’s performance in Sri Lanka as an indication that good things are happening.
