Just proves my point. Pay
piddley for all non-national team cricketers wherever they play...It goes without saying that all members of the USA Olympic
gold medal women's gymnastic team will make
A LOOOOOT more than $30K this year...Cricket's second most popular team sport in world.
Canadian Football is, what, maybe 61st?. Canuck football 17th best paying sport. Cricket? Not even on radar.
FOR SALE! CRICKET! SUPER, SUPER, CHEAP! :

Again, the average annual salary for a gymnast is $30k. The expected lifetime earnings of an Olympic gymnast is $1.25 million. Those are facts. You are pointing to 10-20 athletes (less than 1% of all gymnasts) - and even then, all of their earnings ($200k-$3 million) will come from endorsements and sponsorship's - a totally different revenue stream than annual salaries. For comparison, Dhoni makes $23 million a year in endorsements, Kohli $18 million, Chris Gayle $3 million and so on. You need to separate endorsements from actual salary.
Despite your protestations otherwise, in terms of annual salaries, the average gymnast and bull rider earn less than even a county or state cricketer. And will never come close to touching international cricketers.
I never argued that the annual salaries for cricketers were even close to those in the NBA, NFL, NHL, Premier League, tennis or golf. I agreed with your overall point. I did, however, posit that cricketers earn more than bull riders and gymnasts. Which they do.

Even if a cricketers wage in the UK is £30,000 a year though, it's still not a bad way to make a living is it? I know I'd rather play cricket and earn that amount than work on a building site for example for a lot less money.
They're privileged to be able to play a sport at a top level and get paid a decent amount for doing so and while I'm sure they might look at other sportsmen and feel jealous, it's certainly better than working in a factory on a zero hours contract.

I am from India where cricketers are highest paid sportsmen. Some of our players like Dhoni and Virat Kohli would easily outclass any of those highly paid sportsmen of top paying games. It all depends on population of a country and how the game is followed and able to bring revenue.

Um, well, yeah, but showing the top athletes in the world's second most
popular sport make more than bull riders and gymnasts--sports most people
don't give a rat's behind about--is a sad, sad,
commentary on cricket's status in the sports world. And things will not change unless
cricket learns to tap into 'Merica sports gold mine. ::love:: ::love:: ::love::

Recent article in Cricinfo comparing earnings of top cricket players and
top athletes in other sports. As usual cricketers AT THE BOTTOM!!!
Won't ever change until 'Merica gets into the game.
