Another very solid performance from England. They are making these run chases look routine. Once again, their bowling was superb, lead off with an incredible spell up top from Wood and Woakes. Wood's delivery that sent Sharjeel's off stump flying was an absolute ripper. Woakes has come on leaps and bounds over the last year. What a transformation.
Sarfraz Ahmed continues to be one of my favourite batsman to watch. He is aggressive and fearless regardless of the score. He walked out to the crease with Pakistan 2/3 and he was charging down the wicket first ball from Chris Woakes!
Although England's fielding wasn't quite up to its recent standards, Plunkett pulled off a stunner of a catch.
From the batting standpoint, Hales continues to get himself out. He really needs a score for his own confidence. That was an ugly shot - neither the right line nor length to be playing that hoik. But after that stutter at the top, Root and Morgan saw England all but home in comfortable fashion. It was great to see the skipper finally get in the runs.
I am sure Root will be kicking himself again as for the second match in a row, a century was there for the taking. Those two will, however, need to work on their running between the wickets. Morgan run Root out at Southampton and they almost ran each other out 3 more times this innings too. Extraordinary.
