He may look like a part-time mechanic or your huggable, chubby uncle, but make no mistake about it, Rangana Herath is a 4th innings assassin.

With his 7 wickets in the 4th innings at Colombo, Herath became just the sixth bowler to take 70+ wickets in the 4th innings of a Test match. His 8 5-wicket hauls in the 4th innings are the most by any bowler, while his average and strike-rate in the 4th innings are almost identical to those of Murali, Warne and Kumble.

Herath has now taken 5 5-wicket hauls in his last 10 4th innings. His numbers across these 10 innings are eye-popping - a bowling average of 13.97 and a strike-rate of 35.
