so you see that it is I who was not following west indies cricket as closely as I used to at that time.
Wallace did play for Bim after 1999 a lot. and scored too. but they did not pik him after 1999 for the west indies

That 2002/2003 season must have been an exceptionally weak bowling class. Courtney Browne averaged 40, Floyd Reifer 48, Imran Jan 38, David Bernard 38, Carlton Baugh 40 - all of these well above their career averages.
One thing always reminds the same however, Devon Smith with an average in the 30s

I think what can be said for West Indian cricketers, after being elevated to Test Cricket, is that they learn more on the job due, possibly, to the paucity of the domestic standards.
So it might be that, normally, you give someone a reasonable run of 10 tests but with West Indian players they seem to need more time to grow.
That said you know someone who will adapt to Test cricket and, MAPPIPPEE, you make some valid points about Leon, Wallace, Lambert etc.
That said I genuinely thought the young Guyanan lad, who was dropped for the last test, showed some attitude against Australia.
If he was seen as the best option at the time, especially after not being out in his last innings, they have to give a run of longer than 5 Tests!
The problem is that whether it is Leon, Chandrika or another they are the best you have, poor standard or not, so a run is necessary. Give them a chance as the chopping and changing makes matters worse.
Had we adopted this chopping and changing, Vince and Balance would have long gone and possibly Halo.
In my view Balance should have never come back and Vince and Halo should be given a further run.

Chandrika..indeed has aptitude..correct attitude and approach. but real ability appeared to be lacking.
I was keen on giving Chandrika the whole Indian series but I guess the selectors had seen enuff.
