Ashwin was dropped off Gabriel's bowling earlier in the day.

Since then he has scarcely faced the big fast bowler.  :P

That was a huge surprise in my opinion and one which gave India the edge because nobody expected him to score so well. I wonder if the bowlers such under-estimated his skills thinking he would just make a mistake by himself and get out, instead of bowling their hearts out to him.

I wouldn't have though that the bowlers underestimated his ability, as it was always there to see but just didn't come through as much as it should. With scoring this innings I'd like to think he'd get a lot of confidence from it as maybe that as been his main issue in the past and that's what as held him back in the past more than a lack of actual ability.
