SCORED 57: Cephas Cooper.
Trinidad and Tobago started the West Indies Cricket Board Under-17 championships on a positive note with a 78-run victory over defending champions Windward Island in the opening round of the 50-over tournament at Gilbert Park, California, yesterday.
Cephas Cooper stepped up when his team needed him to, scoring 57 while Brandon Singh hit an unbeaten 37 as the hosts posted 171 for nine off their 50 overs.
It proved to be more than enough in the end as Man-of-the-Match Justyn Gangoo grabbed three wickets for three runs and Nathaniel McDavid took three for four to help dismiss the Windwards for 93 in 27.3 overs.
