From a bowling perspective, I think he is a solid fourth seamer. Someone that can hold an end up. He doesn't go for a lot of runs, but at the same time, isn't particularly menacing or likely to be a strike bowler. Trouble is, he is being used as the new ball bowler or as the first change.

Is his batting and/or captaincy good enough to overcome his deficiencies with the ball, and allow him to be the first choice all-rounder?

I'm not sure you can play both Brathwaite and Holder in the same team. They are both too similar. For me, it's an either or. I think you can make a good argument that Brathwaite has the higher ceiling and has put up better fist-class numbers.
