Browne's use of 5-6 years stats are worrisome.
Stats beyond 2 1/2 years are useless and keep on players who are not performing.
This analysis goes back to the Indian series in 2014.

Ratings used 40+ good, 25 - 39 middling, 11 - 24 fail, 0 - 10 poor.
Not outs not considered unless over 40.

Samuels 6G, 3M, 10F, 13P (26%).
Chandrika 0G, 3M, 0F, 3P  (50%).
Ramdin 7G, 7M, 9F, 13P (39%).
Hope 0G, 3M, 2F, 6P (27%).
Blackwood 8G, 5M, 6F, 7P (50%).
Dowrich 1G, 0M, 2F, 1P (25%).

The % is a measure of reliability to get 25 or more runs in an inning.

Also note how low Samuels reliability stands.

Over the last 12 months, Ramdin has a Test average of 21.22. Taken back further, over the last 2 years, his average is even lower - 19.36.

His career Test average against spinners is 22.48.

Ramdin’s batting average though is better than quite a number of his recent predecessors who are highly respected and some even deemed legends of the game including Deryck Murray (22.90 Test/24.50 ODI), Ridley Jacobs (28.31 Test/23.31 ODI), Junior Murray (22.39 Test/22.60 ODI) and David Williams (13.44 Test/9.18 ODI). Only Jeffrey Dujon (31.94 Test/23.15 ODI) averages over 30 runs in Tests. One has to go back over 50 years to find a full time West Indies wicketkeeper averaging over 40 in Test cricket.

Folks, it has nothing to do with averages on a # 8/10 Ranked squad.

One van understand Ramdin's disappointment, especially after a pretty good ODI series, but he shou,d have responded without a response.

Runs scored today aren't the same as runs scored in the 70s/80s/90s.

In the 1970s, wicketkeepers had a collective average of 27.29. In the 1980s, this dipped to 23.63, before increasing to 27.28 in the 1990s, and 31.81 in the 2000s.

Since Ramdin made his debut, wicketkeepers have a collective average of 33.13. Ramdin's career Test average is 25.87. To put things into perspective, since Ramdin made his debut, the only wicketkeeper (min 20 matches played) with a lower average is Adrian Akmal (24.62).

The disparity between Ramdin's numbers and the numbers of the average wicketkeeper in Test matches have grown even further over the last 2 years - wicketkeepers have averaged 34.12. Ramdin has averaged 19.36.
