TT face Guyana in Regional Women Super50
BRIJ PARASNATH Saturday, July 9 2016
TRINIDAD AND Tobago women cricket team should be in buoyant mood after they registered a four-wicket win over defending champion Barbados in the first round encounter of the Regional Women Super50 at the Enmore Community Centre Ground, Guyana on Thursday.
That victory pushed the Trinidad and Tobago team to the top of the standings on four points after the other two First Round fixtures between Jamaica versus Leewards and Guyana vs Windwards were abandoned without a ball being bowled because of soggy outfield ground conditions.
The four teams shared two points each.
Today, Trinidad and Tobago will take on host nation Guyana in a Second Round match at the Enterprise Community Centre Ground on the East Coast of Demerara.
The Trinidad and Tobago women cricketers are seeking to restore pride and regain the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) women cricket titles.
Experienced captain Merissa Aguilleira and her merry band will be determined to maintain their winning streak and stay ahead of their rivals.
She will be supported by triumphant West Indies WorldT20 players Anisa Mohammed, Britney Cooper and StacyAnn King, all of whom are aiming to retain their places on the West Indies women teams for future 50-overs and T20 series. Today, they will fancy their chances of another victory over the Guyanese and their starting XI will be chosen from Aguilleira (captain), Anisa Mohammed (vice-captain), Britney Cooper, StacyAnn King, Amanda Samaroo, Kirbyina Alexander, Kamara Ragoobar, Shenelle Lord, Reniece Boyce, Lee Ann Kirby, Karishma Ramharack, Rachael Vincent, Rosalie Dollabaille and Selene O’Neil.
