Andre Russell plays the final game of his short spell with Notts Outlaws tomorrow night – but Mick Newell hopes the West Indies all-rounder will be back next season and beyond.
Russell has only managed one appearance so far in an Outlaws shirt due to injury and the English weather, but he put in a match-winning performance against Worcestershire last weekend with 41 runs and two wickets.
Director of cricket Newell hopes he can repeat the feat at Derbyshire Falcons in the NatWest T20 Blast before jetting off to the Caribbean Premier League.
It is hoped the 28-year-old double World T20 winner can be persuaded to return in coming years, although he could yet face a ban from the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission for missing three drugs tests in a year.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
