Preysal Government ended a truly wonderful cricket season, as they defeated Guayaguayare RC by seven wickets to claim the Atlantic National Primary Schools cricket title at the Queen’s Park Oval on Friday night.
When the moment came for Preysal to receive their trophy, the look on the faces of the young players was priceless, as they had achieved at the Mecca of local cricket, thanks to sponsors Atlantic and the National Primary Schools Cricket Council.
With the village of Preysal having a great cricketing tradition, these young men continued as their predecessors had done before and Guayaguayare was the unfortunate team to run into them. Guayaguayare batted first and was bowled out for 92 runs with batting mainstays Mickel Grant and Dernaka Hyndman each getting nine runs.
Extras proved to be the top-score with 32. Bowling for Preysal Government David Kissoondath who would go on to be the star of the match grabbed three wickets for six runs, while Kyle Kissoondath nabbed two for six and Jeremy Lutchmansingh 2/14.
