Saqlain Mushtaq, the former Pakistan spinner, is set to be appointed by the ECB

as England's spin consultant for the home series against Pakistan.

England have been without a spin-bowling coach since Mushtaq Ahmed,

another former Pakistan international, left his role in 2014.  click

Mushtaq was recruited in 2008 and was involved in the era where Graeme Swann

became one of England's leading spinners. .

Teams seem to be employing more and more ex-players as coaches on a temporary basis. This does seem to be the way forward.

It will be interesting to see what direction England go in with upcoming series in India and Bangladesh.
