Almost as much as any player, Cozier was a star of the game to those of us who grew up on his commentary. The people of the Caribbean celebrated Viv, Greenidge, Holding, Lara, Walsh, and all their great players. But they celebrated Cozier too. He excelled as much in his field as they did in theirs.

I'm not a journalist but what do you think they should have done differently? Should they also have gotten some of the praise when WI dominated the game?

I do not see how anyone can blame journalists for the demise of West Indian cricket as they are journalists not coaches and administrators.
They may be at fault for not fully reporting and challenging certain situations more vociferously but would it have lead to any change? No but their more challenging reporting may have satiated the publics' desire to see a meaningful remonstration.
Even the Government of the CARICOM seems powerless to remove the WICB never mind journalists.

but if they do not criticize west indies cricket when it needs to be, then they contribute greatly to crickets demise.. for the wicb is in a death mode, in the total grip of a parasitic bureaucracy.
they participated in the destruction of the body on which they are attached for their livelihood, in the mistaken view that short tern subservience makes for long term gain.
in the case of the wicb short term compliance by journos has meant they will soon end up looking for a new job. or else look to cover west indian village cricket as a means of life.
who anywhere are interested in west indies village cricket with sustained focus, enough to pay those arseholes money, sufficient to maintain their big homes ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::
at points in life there are always heavy decisions to make, full of grave risks..but without the right response life can get even more grave.
west indies cricket journos, including Crozier...in fact Crozier most of all... were wedded to the rotten system that produced the wicb. they never dealt faithfully by it
Crozier attacked the wcb on personal grounds...an issue that threatened his standing as a journo... not on matters of of wicb administrative malfeasance that threatens the life of west indies cricket.
deh say it not good to speak ill of the dead. but this is not speaking ill of the dead..just a truth about Croziers contribution to the game. it was not good overall at all, in my estimation.
all the great celebratory noise about Crozier is just hypocrisy to me
