Sorry over Bravo caricature..Fans Booo Adidas

Global sporting apparel giant Adidas was yesterday forced to apologise for a caricature of its client Dwayne Bravo posted online by Adidas Cricket’s official twitter account .
The caricature was meant to celebrate the West Indian all-rounders historic feat of being the first cricketer to capture 300 Twenty20 wickets. Bravo, who plays for Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League, achieved the milestone on Monday in an IPL match against Kings XI Punjab, where he finished with IPL career best figures of four wickets for 22 runs .
The controversial tweet by Adidas Cricket stated: “Celebrating #cricket like none other .
With 300 T20 wickets, @DJBravo47 is truly a #CHAMPION! #teamadidas.†The caricature exaggerates Bravo’s features with huge teeth and big lips .
One irate Twitter user called Laurie tweeted, “Racism continues .
Adidas apologises after worldwide uproar over this caricature depicting cricketer #Dwayne Bravo.†Another account belonging to Roland Baptiste agrees: “Adidas’ portrayal of Dwayne Bravo is sick and racist.†After a fire-storm of criticism from fans who felt the picture was racist, Adidas Cricket quickly removed it and issued an apology .
They stated: “We see Bravo’s caricature has upset many. Apologies to those whose sentiments got hurt, this wasn’t intended. He’s our Champion.—#teamadidas Meanwhile, Bravo, currently preparing for a match against the Supergiants tomorrow, said he will be issuing a statement .
“Fans, thank you for bringing @adidascricket’s post to my attention. I will be responding soon.†The public response though has not been all negative though as some believe it is not racist but simply a misunderstanding of how caricatures work .
Twitter user John Camacho stated: “Wow, people are so touchy. Caricatures are supposed to be over the top and exaggerated.â€
