He's one of Yorkshire's most famous sons but today the county's cricket club voted against Geoffrey Boycott OBE's bid to rejoin its board.
The former England opener may have made more than 600 first-class appearances for Yorkshire but at its AGM on Saturday Yorkshire CCC members voted against him rejoining its board.
Members voted 758 against and 602 in favour of his bid.
It comes after Yorkshire chairman Steve Denison had asked club members not to back Boycott's return to the board of directors citing that club needed people with "financial" experience and that it it would be "counter-productive to disrupt things now".
Even his fellow former England captain Michael Vaughan had urged the 75-year-old to "drop" his bid.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
