Aussie High Commissioner pays courtesy
Australia’s High Commissioner to Guyana, John Pilbean, paid a courtesy call on officials of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) on Friday last.
Pilbean engaged a high level delegation of GCB executives in wide-raging discussions on the upcoming ODI tri-series, featuring West Indies, South Africa and Australia.
The GCB delegation was headed by president Drubahadur,vice-president Fizul Bacchus, Secretary Anand Sanasie, Marketing Manager Raj Singh, Competitions Chairman Colin Europe and TDO Colin Stuart.
The series will consist of ten matches, slated for June 2016. The first leg will be played in Guyana at the National Stadium at Providence.
In game one, Australia will play South Africa on June 3. West Indies will then play South Africa on June 5 and Australia on June 7.
The second leg is slated for St Kitts while the final four ODIs, including the final, will be held in Barbados. Australia’s last limited overs matches in the Caribbean came in March 2012 when they played five ODIs The two sides split the ODI series – with two wins each and a tie in the third ODI at St Vincent.
The gathering had fruitful and wide ranging discussions surrounding the logistical and security arrangements and other pertinent issues regarding the Australia team stay while in Guyana.
The GCB is eager to host Australia, South Africa and West Indies teams and is confident that Guyanese will come out and support the matches.
