<quote> I did say that they are in good contention, but not favourites. They were hurt by the loss of Narine and Pollard. India are definitely favorites but in the knockouts anything can happen since this is the T20 format and a few good overs can change everything. West Indies probably are third in contention after India and South Africa. </quotes>
The thing is a 20 match aka tournament can be very unpredictable. Like the above poster said, a few good overs and the whole match will turn to one side. Albeit, India is the favorites this time.

Just take a look at the Windies batting might. Starting from the bat-for-hire Chris Gayle, silent assassin Marlon Samuels, impact all-rounders Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell and the dangerous Darren Sammy, the Windies have some serious fence clearers in their ranks.

Like I said, they have he potential but most batsmen of WI are not that reliable. And not just for WI, in the shorter format it's very difficult to predict anything.
They surely got heavy lifters who can ripped through bowling attacks but the question is will all be at their best of form?
