Leading wicket-taker among the Guyana Jaguars seamers Raymon Rifer, says he’s been working twice as hard to ensure he performs better with the ball as the defending champions eye a clean sweep in this season’s Professional Cricket League (PCL) Regional Four Day tournament.
Table leaders Guyana are currently two matches away from ending the four-dayers undefeated and Reifer, the Barbados-born left-arm swing bowler, has been a key player this season, bagging some 17 wickets to date as he continues to hold his own as one of the key men in his team’s Jaguars fast-bowling department.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

William Burton, a fast bowler, struggled to make his mark as he was of mixed race and lacked
the background to gain entry to Barbados's only non-white club.
He worked as a practice bowler for Pickwick CC and was used in practice matches
to sharpen up white batsmen
chosen to represent the island.
In 1899 he emigrated to Guyana which had far less strict rules on colour
(other promising colored players took the same route)
and he bowled well enough in his first season to gain selection
for the 1900 England tour where he took 78 wickets at 21.55.

It is said that practice makes perfect and hard work brings rewarding results, and I commend Mr. Reifer for recognizing this and to have put in the appropriate work, which is now reaping success.
I wish that many of the West Indies players would also recognize that hard work is a very important aspect of being successful and act accordingly to try to improve their performances.
