Sangakkara has given his support to Mahela for taking up the consultancy role with England. He also makes a great point that at the end of the day, it is still up to the players to execute. England's poor play against spin has long been documented. They need all the help they can get, but this is a very aggressive team and one that bears no resemblance to those of years past. Root, Morgan and Buttler are all very good players of spin, though arguably their best player of spin - James Taylor - has been left at home.

Nice reply by Jayawardene to a pretty ridiculous attack on Jayawardene's integrity. He has been retired for an year, and needs to do something to earn money. SLC rejected him in the first place and now don't even want to allow him to make a living elsewhere. And everybody knows what Sri Lanka's weaknesses are; you don't require "inside" information to get there.

Exactly, this is a baseless statement and it will be better for SLC to take back. This is not the first time any international player his doing the coach or consultancy job. India had many international coaches before, every country had. If every national board would showed a knee jerk reaction then this tradition would have been long gone.
Happy with his reply though. It was a good one.

I also don't think that Sri Lanka's cricketing body can complain too much about whatsoever gone on. Fair enough, I can see where they're coming from but at the same time it's not as if they offered him a role and he CHOSE a different team to work with.
If that was the case and he CHOSE England over Sri Lanka then they may have more of a point.
