Aaron Phangiso's rough go of it continues. A week after he was caught on camera pretending to sniff an unknown substance off his leg during South Africa's T20 win against England at the Wanderers. Phangiso has now been reported for an illegal action following his domestic team's win in the semi-finals of the Momentum One Day Cup.

Recent testing has confirmed that Phangiso's action does indeed exceeded the maximum 15 degrees of tolerance. As a result, he will not be allowed to take part in South Africa’s two T20 warm-up matches against Australia. He will undergo a second test on Monday. Failure to pass this test will result in Phangiso not being able to participate in the World T20. I wonder if that opens the door for Eddie Leie to come into the squad?

I didn't realise, but Eddie Leie has a hamstring problem that was exacerbated over the weekend, so it looks like he is not in contention to replace Phangiso. I guess that leaves either Dane Piedt or Tabraiz Shamsi. Piedt would be a decent replacement. He impressed during the Test series against England.

It's should be a really great relief for Phangiso now that he has been cleared to bowl in the Tournament. However, I believe that there may be a could hanging over his head because he should have now realised that the authorities may be watching like a hawk for any infringement of resulting from his bowling action. I hope, however, the awareness of the possibility of the added scrutiny will not adversely affect his level of performance
