Port of Spain: Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) president Azim Bassarath wants the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to keep the ICC Under-19 World Cup-winning West Indies team in training and have them as one of the teams in the 2017 edition of the NAGICO Super 50.
The TTCB boss is advocating the retention of the top WI youth team, that included T&T's Kirstan Kallicharran and Jyd Goolie, to form the nucleus of a future world class WI squad, a proposal he will be making to the WICB at their annual general meeting in two week's time in Antigua.
Bassarath believes exposing these U-19 players to the best players in the region would help to improve their game and grow the team as a cohesive unit to confront the best teams in the world in the future.
