Malinga and Mathews have both been declared fit enough to be included in Sri Lanka's World Twenty20 squad, though there is no place in the team for Lahiru Thirimanne. That is a bit surprising to me as he can be such a destructive batsman. Vandersay ahead of Seekuge Prasanna and Dilshan Munaweera is another interesting decision.
Sri Lanka squad: Lasith Malinga (capt), Angelo Mathews (vice-capt), Dinesh Chandimal, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Shehan Jayasuriya, Milinda Siriwardana, Dasun Shanaka, Chamara Kapugedera, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dushmantha Chameera, Thisara Perera, Sachithra Senanayake, Rangana Herath, Jeffrey Vandersay
Sri Lanka have always excelled in the World Twenty20, twice finishing runners-up and winning it in 2014.

Malinga and Matthews both looked out of shape, although the have somehow passed the fitness test. This team is very young and it is yet to be seen whether it can handle the pressure. The subcontinent conditions will help them, they will hopong Senanayake and Herath pull them to victory.

Lasith Malinga's knee injury has unfortunately forced him out of the tournament. He will be replaced by legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay, who was in the initial squad, but replaced just 24-hours before the team left for India. What a roller coaster of emotions for Vandersay. Also, a rather awkward conversation between he and the new selectors, I am sure.

Malinga is still not at his best fitness level. He is the much needed bowler for SL. I think this year's SL is a significantly weaker side than their earlier years. They are going through a generation transition with seniors retiring left and right.
The match today will be one to watch for.

I'll be playing 'catch-up' watching this game ... pretty much as I have been so far/and will be with all the matches because of time difference. Only match I've watched 'live' so far was AUS vs NZ cos that was decent timing......
Matches start normally around 1:00 am my time ........ can't do it unless a bout of insomnia sets in. !!! ::yawn::
Sorry Dillinger and Ketch ... can't join you guys like the WC last year on 'de wagon' :-[ :-[
