That was a thoroughly convincing victory for Australia. A complete all round performance. This Australia side is building in the right direction. They have done a great job of breeding in younger players. I think you can make a very strong case that Josh Hazlewood has been the second best fast bowler over the last 12 months. The scary proposition is that he is still very young and learning his trade.
It's worth noting that since December 2014, England are the only team to have won a Test match against Australia. Over this period, Australia have won 11 matches, lost 3 (all to England) and drawn 4.

Australia’s batsmen capitalised, none more so than Voges, who was bowled by Doug Bracewell for seven in the final over of the first day only for umpire Richard Illingworth to call a no ball. Television replays showed the ball was legal.

I heard about that. I can't believe that the third umpire doesn't have the power to overrule such obvious mistakes. Australia would probably have won anyway, but under different circumstances a mistake like that could influence the outcome of the entire match.

I wasn't sure this was worthy of its own thread, but while doing some research, I came across a wonderful stat that was too good not to share. Batting at number 11, Nathan Lyon has a career Test average of 20.71 - the highest of any number 11 in history (minimum 20 innings batted). His average is identical to that of Bill Athey's batting at number 3 for England, though Lyon's numbers are aided by the fact he has been dismissed just 36% of the time batting at number 11.
The Aussies have had some fantastic nightwatchmen through the years, including the greatest nightwatchman of them all, Jason Gillespie.
