DISMISSED LBW: Shivnarine Chanderpaul
SHARJAH
Veteran left-hander Shiv Chanderpaul had little impact as his Gemini Arabians defeated Virgo Super Kings by 22 runs in the Masters Champions League on Saturday. Choosing to bat, Arabians racked up 144 for five from their 20 overs, with Chanderpaul getting 12 from 11 deliveries in his second game of the tournament.
Chanderpaul entered at 70 for two in the 10th over and added 31 for the third wicket with Saqib Ali who finished on 46 not out from 41 balls. He eventually perished in the 14th over, lbw to left-arm spinner Murali Karthik. Sri Lankan star Kumar Sangakkara, opening the batting, top-scored with 51 from 34 deliveries.
In reply, Super Kings could only manage 122 for six with opener Neil McKenzie striking 46. In the other game played, Leo Lions without captain Brian Lara beat Sagittarius Strikers by five wickets in a final-over finish.
