McCullum denied a fifty in his final innings, departing for a rapid-fire 47. New Zealand fell away after a great opening stand. At 221/4 with 10 overs left, they would have had their eyes set on a score in excess of 300. Credit to Australia for digging deep.

Khawaja and Warner get Australia's reply off to a flier before Warner gives his wicket away. Australia 39/1 after 5 overs. I still can't believe that Khawaja didn't get an IPL contract. He is legit.

A thick outside edge and Khawaja departs for 44, but not before providing Australia with a fantastic platform. Australia 76/2 (12 ov).

Two wickets in three balls from Sodhi, the young leggie, have given New Zealand a window of opportunity. Not the best of reviews from Smith there. This series has had a fantastic back and forth. Marsh, the hero at Wellington, comes ot the crease. Does he have another match winning innings under his belt? Australia 94/4 (19 ov).

Massive choke on display here from both sides. New Zealand were absolutely cruising when they were going at around 7 an over with just one wicket down. It's baffling how the batsmen simply threw it away and they collapsed to such a low total. But thanks to Ish Sodhi they seem to be making a match out of it, although I feel Australia with their long batting lineup will easily chase this down like the last match
On the other hand it is good to see some fightback from the bowlers as ODI cricket recently has become one dimensional with big scores being chased down easily. Should be an exciting match!

Well said. International cricket is poorer without his involvement. He was so much fun to watch. He was one of those batsman that you would stop what you were doing in order to watch him at the crease. Fun, free spirited and played the game the right way

***

This was a fun series with plenty of twists and turns. Over the last 12-months, New Zealand has won more ODI's (20) than any other team. Australia, however, have the best win/loss ratio (2.666).
