Windies toppled from top after three-week stay

DUBAI—West Indies’ stay at the summit of the ICC Twenty20 world rankings has ended after just three weeks. They were toppled by India who completed a 3-0 series sweep over Australia in Sydney on Sunday by winning the final Twenty20 International by seven wickets.
India, who will host the Twenty20 World Cup in March, now sit on top of the standings with 120 ratings points—two clear of the Windies who now lie second on 118 points.
However, the Caribbean side are only narrowly ahead of reigning World champions Sri Lanka also on 118 points and England, who are fourth on 117 points in what is a tightly bunched table.
West Indies were elevated to the top spot 21 days ago when Sri Lanka suffered a 0-2 series defeat to New Zealand and lost their top ranking. The Windies are former World champions after winning the 2012 World Cup in Sri Lanka, when they beat the hosts in a dramatic final.
They enter the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup as one of the favourites after selectors last week chose a full strength squad for the March 8 to April 3 tournament.
