England beat South Africa 2-0, South Africa drop from No.1 to No.3 on the ICC rankings and their fall has been as dramatic as it sounds.

It has been over a year since South Africa last won a Test match
and that was against the eighth-ranked West Indies.

Rooting for England - never has DownUnda had such conflicting emotions. ;D
South Africa's fall has been rapid, although it should be noted that Philander has yet to bowl a ball in this series and Steyn has played just the one Test. Losing that type of quality fast bowling hurts, although saying that, Rabada has stepped up brilliantly and looks to be a star in the making.
Where South Africa need help is in the batting. The lineup is unbalanced, and they can only count on Amla, AB and Elgar to make runs. Their top order is very similar to England's, where England have improved is the depth (and quality) in the lower order provided by Stokes and Bairstow. I can't imagine van Zyl gets any more opportunities at the top. I said it prior to the start of the series, but South Africa missed a trick by not getting Stephen Cook in to partner Elgar at the top.
