Legendary West Indian captain Clive Lloyd has blamed a lack of first-class warm-up fixtures and the defection of so many experienced players from the Caribbean to global Twenty20 franchise competitions for his former team’s poor results in the current Test series.
And his thoughts have been echoed by ex-England star Kevin Pietersen, who has gone even further and called on the International Cricket Council to step in and compel the likes of Windies stars Chris Gayle and Andre Russell to play Test cricket.
As well as ensure Test cricketers are paid more than those who command huge pay cheques in T20 competitions such as the Indian Premier League and the KFC Big Bash League.

all of thAT IS quite illogical to me. a full, honest study of the stage of the game of cricket is required..with a preparedness by the ICC to implement what is obvious.
and what is obvious to me is that test cricket is endangered dying because TOO MUCH OF IT IS BEING PLAYED, TO EMPTY STADIUMS, TO NO LOGICAL PURPOSE
that is nto necessary at all when T20 and ODI have evolved to provide solid alternative forms of the game that can likely be used to buttress test cricket, give it a new least on life by playing less of it to a test championship.
that's right..play much less test cricket, fill the space with ODI and T20 and the domestic 3-4 day competitions. then work in a test championship every five years by playing elimination series from 3 years after a champion is decided.
something like that anyway. that may bring back interest in test cricket, celebrated to the high heavens. but what is going on is killing test cricket. there is way too much 'purposeless' test cricket being played. this is not 1960 but 2016...a new day,new people new world. revamp, reform, revolutionize..whatever is required to come into sync with the nature of the current day
{ by purposeless I mean that we knew what was going on back in the day when no championship of cricket was established. we knew who was boss and what we played for. it was race, class and nationalism. those concerns while still the basis of social drive are no longer serve a racial or nationalist purpose in the same way as in the 1960 etc when nationalism meant a struggle for national independence and more.
and for that reason the interminable going on of test cricket without a clearly defined purpose consistent with the current stage and popular mind frame and expectations... is suicide.
if they interested in saving test cricket hey have to look into the matter to find out exactly what the situation is and come-up with a accurate answer to bring test cricket into line and make it successful once more}

and LLoyd is a real old fogey isnt he. he comes up with forcing people to do things that are impractical and illogical. does he not realize that produces long term animosity hat is the hardest thing to overcome ::confused::
if you have the power temporarily to force people to do things they do not want to do, you better be prepared to go all the way to hell to prevent a redound in time that will consume you.
the answer is to compel no one but to find out what is going on and how to resolve the issue in the best interests of everyone..an acceptable solution to all involved..not a solution that temporarily benefits the power minority in the game using PHORCE!!
