St. John’s, ANTIGUA - The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), following its board of directors meeting in St. Lucia recently (December 12) submitted its response (position paper) to CARICOM today, December 23.
The position from the WICB now has the submissions from the territorial boards as agreed. The WICB’s position was prepared with the assistance of noted counsel Anthony Waddy Astaphan SC. The paper looks carefully at how both organizations can work together for the “benefit of the improvement of cricket on and off the field.â€
Following the meeting with the two groups earlier in December in Grenada, WICB and CARICOM have agreed to meet for a series of discussions to come to a consensus on what is deemed the very important matter of the governance of West Indies Cricket.
The details of the report will be made public shortly.

If you negotiate and compromise around a framework prone to failure and continually fail, as has been the case with the WICB, innovation must prevail and a 'scorched earth' approach has to be adopted...... the innovation required is for the Board and all its structure to go.
It seems CARICOM is falling into the trap of trying to negotiate around a failed framework and have lost focus on its recommendations.

if we believe in Caribbean unity, then we all must move apace to protect the brand we call the West Indies cricket team. It is rather painful to see the state of West Indies cricket at the moment. This certainly did not happen overnight, nor did it happen under this administration.
