The former Australian cricketer has singled out top order batsman Marlon Samuels and wicketkeeper batsman Dinesh Ramdin, questioning their roles in the struggling side. Waugh is predicting that if the West Indies do not lift their game, the remaining two Tests would be over in three days as well. "He is a problem," said Waugh on Saturday, referring to Samuels. "There is definitely an issue with the senior players in that group. Without knowing exactly what is going on in the dressing room, you can see there is no team camaraderie there or willingness for the senior players to drive any intensity." He added: "Their game awareness (in the first Test) and tactically they were very naive. If they do that again in Melbourne there will be the same result (in the second Test). The same in Sydney (third Test)."
"Jason Holder the skipper has no one around him," said Waugh, who was one of the world's most elegant stroke makers during his playing days. "Holder is the captain but he doesn't seem to have control or back-up from the senior players." "(Dinesh) Ramdin, the wicketkeeper, they need more out of him with the bat and tactically."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

In my view Mark Waugh is spot on with his criticism of the WI team. It is another thing to be going to a rough patch and losing, and that situation deserves the country's support but this is quite different. Not only is the WI team losing but the attitudes of the senior players and the lack of support for their captain is sad to watch. This must be remedies and any player who is not willing to give his 100% for the team should be shown the door.

I certainly think the senior players, but all players, should be more vocal but, whilst Iam no samuels fan, Marlon has never been one to be over demonstrative or expressive. He has had his moments but he is placid and so laid back he is almost horizontal!
I did comment on Ramdin losing his chirp but really my view is that Holder, yet to really cement a place in Tests, is completely out of his depth in all Captaincy departments apart from his presentation to the media.
I would expect the vice Captain Brathwaite, if the role means anything, to be more proactive in supporting his Skipper and he seems absent. If the selectors wants to place these young men to lead then they must lead and not make excuses.
To lay the burden of the diabolical performance at Samuel's and Ramdin's doors seems inappropriate.
All in the dressing room does not seem fine and I think this has gone back for a while and one might recall the altercation Holder and Sammy had in the World cup....on the field.
Far too much responsibility for this young man who shapes up, to me, to be nothing more than an averagely good cricketer...another Sammy perhaps.
Holder's bowling has not developed in my view and if anything has gone backwards. He can be quite economical but rarely looks like taking wickets although he good be a good foil for a more attacking bowler at the other end.
Ramdin batting at 6 shows a weak lineup and if they are looking for a number 6 then it has to be someone else and if we do not see Dorwich feature on this tour, it will not be too long now.
Best wishes to the Windies but the best they will do this time is push the game into the fourth day.
