@ Adelaide 27/11/2015 ....... 47,000 spectators first day !! What say you to that 'incomprehensible TimmyJ'? .... Guess Test Cricket is alive and well in some parts of the world and in a great majority of minds !! .. of which I'm sure acknowledge all the other cricket formats !!

I wonder whether it will really make a difference to attendance figures in the long term or whether most of those people just wanted to be able to say they were there on that historic day.

I wouldn't have thought that many people would have just gone to say that they was there, but at the same time I wouldn't expect that kind of attendance figures at every game.

I love this post unconditionally, well said Cally!
Losing Starc is a huge blow for Australia, especially with Johnson having retired also. Given his recent ankle problems during the Ashes series, you have to wonder whether he was fully fit coming into this series. Although, in saying that, he was bowling with some real fire.
I was glad to see that the ball held up well and didn't need to be changed, especially given all the concerns regarding the durability of the pink ball. All in all, this was a great day for Test cricket.

The weekend will certainly be a test now to see if those sort of figures can be maintained as traditionally the weekend sees the higher attendance but that will be hard to beat I think.

Crowd attendance on the 2nd day was 43,300+
Seems likely to be a 3-day test match ........

There have been some poor umpiring decisions this series going against New Zealand ... but this one today with Lyon really was a HOWLER !!! Reminds me of the Bucknor days !!
How can a system (DRS) that was designed to prevent 'howlers' manage to come up with this one???
