Wow! The problem with Dirk Nannes' comments are they go over the head of your typical Bogan class Aussie who have nothing better to do but slag off a guy who is just pointing out a cultural issue. If those same guys actually took the time to analyse what he said you would understand that he was expressing concerns about a bigger problem with the team culture rather the Ross Taylor incident. I think the disrespect here for Nannes shows an example of this culture. The guy played cricket for Australia and has more of an insight to the culture than most everyday people would. People who are having a go at him are examples of your typical Aussie Bogan who only follow cricket from Nov-Feb and the Australian team on pedestal.

Did anyone bother to read the comments below article?...I only saw what Channel Nine broadcasted and there was no handshake ...and a whole lot of apologies the following day by Nine broadcasters ... Shame !!!
However, that was a magnanimous gesture to the retiring Mitchell Johnson by the Kiwis ... Well done Black Caps ... and that showed the difference in 'the gentleman's game'.
No secret on this board that I've always been a Kiwi fan !!!........

The Kiwis play the game the right way. Brendon McCullum is a magnanimous captain and they were a joy to watch during their recent series with England. They play the game the right way and McCullum was a deserving recipient of the CMJ Spirit of Cricket Award earlier in the year.
McCullum also made for a great read in his column in The Guardian this summer. He had some harsh words for the way Australia conducted themselves during the Ashes series, especially Steve Smith's handling of the Ben Stokes situation. This, of course, didn't sit well with the Aussies - David Warner in particular:

It's horrible to see that kind of poor sportsmanship. These athletes are putting everything they have into the game, training all the time to improve. Most players put a conscience effort into being great role models on top of great athletes. They deserver a lot more respect from everyone, fans and other players included. Watching the Legends of Cricket on ESPN3 the last few weeks we got to see how some of the classic greats of the sports carry themselves.

Absolutely agree ..... the Aussies have retained the trophy BUT I so wish the Kiwis win the historic Day/Night Test in Adelaide.
*However, I will switch allegiance (for the very FIRST time) when WI play AUS as I'm so very embarrassed by this team and the WI board. Can't imagine MCG and SCG grounds filled for these historic matches which will probably be done within three if not two days !!!!
........... and realistically one has to stop living the 'Victory Days' at some point. Dem days are done !!
*DownUnder ... you and I will be on the same page for once
