LEEWARD Islands wicketkeeper/batsman Devon Thomas is set to play for St Thomas CA in the ongoing Jamaica Cricket Association 50-over competition.
St Thomas CA President Dennis Gordon confirmed that the out-of-favour West Indies player is registered and has made himself available for Sunday's fifth-round encounter against visitors Kensington CC at Good Year Oval.
"I can confirm that he arrives here tomorrow [Friday] and he will be suited up on Sunday," Gordon said.
He said the move was initiated by St Thomas skipper Carlton Baugh, another wicketkeeper/batsman with experience playing for the senior West Indies team.
Gordon said Thomas' experience will be a boost to the team.
"Baugh, the captain, recruited Thomas and we welcome that. It was his [Baugh's] initiative and he called me and I agreed.
"We are trying to build a settled and competitive team. In terms of quality, and we are trying to bring a level of professionalism to the outfit, and we will get that from him [Thomas]," he told the Jamaica Observer.
The 25-year-old Thomas played the first of his 21 One-Day International game for the West Indies against Bangladesh in Dominica in 2009. His most recent game came in 2013 on the tour of Australia.
The Antiguan has also represented the regional team in three Twenty20 International games.
St Thomas are currently third in Zone D of the JCA competition with 12 points, behind leaders Kingston CC (24) and second-placed Melbourne CC (18). Only the top two teams in the zone will advance to the quarter-final stage.

Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Well Thomas was never in contention to be a West Indies regular anyways. He didn't even do well with his keeping in the cpl this season.
