Dinanath Ramnarine, denied allegations of impropriety made against him by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TT CB) during his tenure as President of the West Indies Players’ Association.
And to bolster his denial, Ramnarine showed Newsday audited financial statements for 2012. This was in direct response to questions that were raised by the TT CB over the state of WIPA’s finances while he headed that body.
Ramnarine is now calling on the TT CB Executive Committee to stick to the issues and refrain from personal attacks against him. Ramnarine was speaking to Newsday following a TT CB press release on September 18 which made several damning allegations against the ex- West Indies leg-spinner which he says he intends to take legal action against.
Among the allegations made was a question from TT CB president Azim Bassarath about whether there were audited financial statements of WIPA during his tenure; Ramnarine’s involvement in a US480k per year coaching programme in Point Fortin; his overall contribution to West Indies cricket at WIPA.
Ramnarine yesterday showed Newsday audited financial statements of WIPA for 2012 and said it was shameful that the TT CB would try to attack his character which he said is unblemished.
