In an interview he declared that he was practically tired of people labeling him as talented, that it was really messing him up and that he has worked really hard to become a better batsman.
I think he may be right, it’s very hard to live up to people’s high expectations.

Sharma made his debut at home against the West Indies, he averaged 288.00 in those two matches. Since then, in the 12 matches he has played, he has averaged just 26.45 with 4 fifties - two of which came in the last series against Sri Lanka. His average outside of the subcontinent is 24.93. He is going to need to show a lot more going forward, especially in matches away from home, if he is ever to live up to the talented label.
I would also be concerned that he admitting that he is mentally weak.

Maybe he’s tired of people labeling him or even worst, maybe he’s not as talented as people believe him to be. Either case I don’t really like this guy’s game, but kind of feel they are expecting things from him that he simply can’t deliver. Maybe this proves he has a weak mind or maybe this proves he just does not has that talent everyone talks about and maybe everyone should just back off him.

Could Rohit’s “talented†label be affecting him?
