Buttler appeared in the NatWest Blast finals having also played the quarter-final between the fourth and fifth Tests.
Barely 12 hours after picking up the trophy at Edgbaston, as Lancashire overcame Northamptonshire in the final,
he was at a training session in Cardiff ahead of the T20 international.

Bairstow was unlucky to be omitted from the original one-day squad having made a matchwinning, unbeaten 83
against New Zealand, at Chester-le-Street, in June on his recall.

Resting Buttler is the right move. I was surprised that he wasn't rested for the entire ODI series against Australia. Joe Root is the only Englishman to have played more matches over the last 12 months and he was given the entire series off. Buttler's glovework has come on leaps and bounds over this period, however, he has struggled to find runs this summer - averaging 23.85 against New Zealand and Australia in Tests, though did impress in the ODI series against New Zealand with an average of 61.
