BALDEO SETS UP ONE-SIDED 8 WICKETS WIN FOR ALBION
On the back of a six wickets haul for all-rounder Balchand Baldeo, Albion continued their dominance in Berbice's cricket with a one-sided eight wickets win over Blairmont earlier today at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
In a second round fixture of the Berbice River Bridge Company sponsored 50 Overs Knock Out 1st Division Cricket Competition in Berbice, Baldeo, sharing the new ball with talented pacemen Josiah Dhanai, spun web around the Blairmont batsmen with his off-spin as former West Indies Under-19 left-arm-spinner Gudakesh Motie assisted with 3 and Dhanai 1 respectively in the visitors' modest 60 all out.
The talented Baldeo, accompanied by the16 year-old Adrian Sukhwa, at the top of the order in the absence of the injured Kandasammy Surujnarine then batted beautifully before Baldeo went for 20. Sukhwa followed shortly after for (21) as David Latchaya and Gudakesh Motie therafter guided the highly touted Albion to victory.
Albion, the defending champions, will now meet Police in the semi-final set for next Saturday at either Cumberland or Edinburg.
Rose Hall Town and Port Mourant, the other two remaining in the competition will be meeing in their second round fixture shortly with the winner gaining a bye to the final.(Vemen Walter)
