Former Guyana and West Indies middle-order batsman Ramnaresh Sarwan has been in training as he prepares to try out for the Jamaican franchise in the upcoming Professional Cricket League (PCL) four-day season.
The 35-year-old will travel to Jamaica this weekend, where he will undergo a fitness test on, during the same period with the contracted players who all go through their physical evaluations.
A trial match for the Jamaican Scorpions is scheduled for September 8 and 9 and according to Sarwan (many refer to him as ‘Sars’), “I’ve been doing some running and stuff like that, nothing too rough, but I’m getting there, where I want to be.â€
Sarwan added, “It’s going to take some time; probably another 2-3 weeks or so but to be invited to trials for Jamaica is a great opportunity.â€
If selected as part of the squad, the Guyanese, who is registered to play for Kingston CC in the local 50-over club cricket competition, will be paid based on the games he plays.

Well good luck to Sarwan and I hope the selectors will give him another shot at test cricket for the West Indies.
