Cricket Australia extends its deepest sympathies to the Morris family following the sad passing of Test legend Arthur, aged 93.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Well rest in peace Arthur Morris, your contribution to the lovely game of cricket is much appreciated. Didn't see much footage of him playing but his test record is fairly good for his era.

Do you think many modern batsmen tend to lunge on the front foot too early?
I think so. I've been seeing it, particularly in opening batsmanship. It is a very good defensive but it doesn't win games.
McCabe never played forward in his life and he was the fastest batsman I saw. People tend to say
"Oh, he's on the back foot",
but I found most of the players on the back foot are very fast scorers.

Fairly good? Of all batsman pre-1960, only 10 batsman scored more runs than Morris, while his average was 27th best. His away average was a remarkable 53.78 - 9th best of all time. That's not fairly good, that is one of the era's greats, and arguably Australia's greatest ever opening batsman.
