Sangakkara will call time on his international career after the second Test, which starts at the P Sara Oval on August 20. “He has got runs world over and scored double hundreds like it is a pastime,†Shastri gushed. “He is equal with Sir Donald Bradman. We love Sanga for the way he has entertained and he has been a fantastic ambassador for the game of cricket. That is a legacy that he will leave behind. Every Sri Lankan should be proud of what he has achieved, not just personally but the way he has conducted himself in going round the world as an international cricketer. You can call him as one of the statesmen of the modern game.â€

Kohli gets typecast as a rude hot-head, but he's always the first to sincerely shake the hands of a century maker, pat an opponent on the back, compliment an opponent or publically release a kind word.

Now that Sangakkara has retired and it would appear that Chanderpaul has been effectively retired by the WICB, Alastair Cook (9330 runs) is the leading active run-scorer in Test cricket. Second on the list of active players is Younis Khan (8814) while AB de Villiers (7606) is third.
