Sir Vivian Richards cricket ground in Antigua is Adrift in no-man’s-land, the stadium stands halfway between St John’s and its airport. The earth is scrubby and arid, parched of life. Forget cities and street cricket, the ground is entombed in a scorched car park.
It can hold more than 10,000 spectators, a ninth of Antigua’s population. No wonder it feel empty. If Lord’s proportions followed the same logic it would have six million seats. There are two types of good stadium: characterful and atmospheric or slick and efficient. Antigua’s is neither.

if deh have taken the cash and rebuilt the ARG, updated it to a quality modern facility, looking good inside and out, put good housing nearby, shops and entertainment around it....it would have made a great deal of positive difference to the city.
they could have moved the nearby Jail..put that at North Sound not a new stadium which they did not and do not need.
with the jail gone the ARG could have been expanded by killing the street now in-between the 2 ...rerouted that street around an expanded ground into where the jail is now...add new developments around the ground that would have expanded and enhanced the city of St Johns.
but that is west indian mentality right now. it is stupid, deadly to their own best interests, supine and dependent. a west indian cannot think in his/her own best interest, and in that of their nation, if their very life depended on it.....
and in fact and indeed it does.
to make sense of North Sound they now have to find money to put development there. they don't have it and don't know how to get it without immersing themselves in debt they cant repay

Nothing new here. It was a huge mistake to build it in North Sound. But it's not getting demolished anytime soon.

another stupid opinion by a man who does not know the west indias, does not know business and economics......
where the hell are they going to get the money to maintain North Sound as it cannot possibly generate the revenue for its upkeep ::confused::
they dont have to demolish North Sound. it will decay and collapse on its own.
the idea was to interconnect the stadium withgeneral revenue bearing activity where the people congregate..where they live and do business routinely..where all the taxis and buses congregate when work is done for the day... when those who came for the day in head out..within walking distance of the whole city that does not require bus fare, taxi fare and personal transportation to get to.
located in the new ARG would have been a lot of needed facilities the people did not have at that point..meeting spaces, convention centre, a theatre for live drama, shops, restuarants, fast food and sit down eat, a couple 3 nice pubs..and whatever else the people do that they could locate in there that generates business that realizes taxes, commissions, fees etc to pay for the dam place.
North Sound not only does not generate such revenues but requires revenues generated elsewhere to keep it going. it is a drain used for only what 10-12 dates for the whole dam year?
look! there is a massive carnival every year that can be routed through there for the contests. the ARG could have been renovated with that in mind for easy ingress and egress for large masquerade bands
that cant be done with North sound. too far for the bands to walk..no close-by general facilities to support bands of people hungry, want to pee, water to drink etc., all along the way.
lots could have been done. simply putting together a relevant group of consultants, all local and all with an independent bent to their minds would have resulted in so many possibilities and potential revenue the government could easily have decided to build the dam thing themselves, rather than begging..to even borrow the cash for it would pay for itself including interest on the debt easily.
or the government could have carried out a bond issue among Antiguans everywhere and all west indians too. they would have been able to raise the money necessary that way, if they found a powerful feasible plan that would generate good revenue, to pay good interest on those bonds..or to reclaim them in reasonable time

Man you are one f cuk ing Canadian/Trinidadin jackass.
Who gives a f c u k about your long long so called "intellectual" posts.
What was said in the first post about North Sound is nothing new. It has been said before and on many occasions.
And you aint add nothing new. Only those who know where the ARG is and what surrounds would even understand the points you trying to make.
SO KYMC
