The national Under-15 cricketers finally got some time out in the middle and made full use of it, crushing Jamaica by nine wickets in round three of the West Indies Cricket Board Regional U-15 tournament in Guyana, yesterday.
T&T’s matches against Guyana and Windward Islands were both abandoned due to rain. Bowling first at the Guyana National Stadium yesterday, T&T dismissed Jamaica for 125 in 40.1 overs. Fast bowler Jayden Seales was the top bowler for T&T taking the first four wickets to leave the Jamaicans in trouble on 32/4. Sameer Ali finished off the tail grabbing three of the last four wickets. Ali ended with 3/9 in 6.1 overs, while Seales took 4/44 in nine overs. Michael Thompson and Geordae Seymour was the best batsmen scoring 26 and 24 respectively.
Opening batsman Sachin Dookie led the chase, cracking an unbeaten 45 off 99 balls to guide T&T to 126/1 in 34.3 overs. Dookie, who struck five fours in his innings, was supported by Joshua James who finished on 29 not out. Dookie and James shared in an unbroken 83-run second wicket partnership after Matthew Patrick fell for 16. Kirk McKenzie was the lone wicket taker for Jamaica, taking 1/13 in five overs.
The results of the Barbados-Guyana match and the Windward Islands-Leeward Islands encounter were not available up to press time. T&T will hope for sunny skies again today when it plays Leeward Islands at Bourda.
