Fast bowler, Jonathan Williams has been ruled out of the Trinidad and Tobago team to compete at the Regional Under-19 tournament in Jamaica.
During training Williams made a complaint about pain in his lower back and scans conducted following the session revealed a stress reaction. Caldrac Sports fast bowler, Anderson Phillip has been drafted into the squad as the replacement.
“This was a bitter pill to swallow because this is the first time I have been selected on a national youth team and it was my last year of eligibility.
“This was something I always wanted and I worked hard all year to make the national Under-19 team and to get injured a week before the tournament was heartbreaking. I know that I will be back playing soon and I wish my team-mates the best of luck in Jamaica,†said Williams.
The Punishers fast bowler said that he is focused on his recovery and has set his sights on the Red Force team upon his return.
“I always think big, I always dream big so I am always setting myself big goals and I have set 2016 as the year I break into the Red Force team.
“I know I have the talent to be there but it is for me to put in the hard work and I think I will be there once I work with the right coaches, therapist and doctors,†said Williams.
