Fatima save TT face in Sir Garry cricket

FATIMA COLLEGE registered a seven-wicket win over Solihull School of England on Monday, in the Fifth Round of the 29th annual Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament in Barbados.
In their Zone A battle, Solihull School posted a score of 194 runs for six wickets in 38 overs with Richard Bradley unbeaten on 33 while Anthony Szarmach made 32. Also chipping in with the bat were Benjamin Watson (30), Fahd Janjua (24) and Elliott Mortar (21).
Donovan Clayton was the major wicket-taker for Fatima with three wickets for 17 runs.
Fatima reached 198/3 in response, off 27 overs, with Jean-Paul Rocke slamming an unbeaten 76, while Sean Persaud struck 51 and Wendell George 25 not out. Archie Clay took 2/38 for Solihull.
It was a rough day for Trinidad and Tobago-based institutions/clubs, as only Fatima emerged victorious out of the four TT participants.
Also in Zone A, Vishnu Boys were spanked by eight wickets by Sedburgh School of England.
Vishnu Boys amassed 198/4 in 40 overs at the KMV Oval with Jarlanie Seales not out on 73 while Carl Vialva was at the other end on 40. Akeel Mohammed contributed 45 for Vishnu Boys.
However, Sedburgh School responded with 199/2 in 36.2 overs with Max Silvester blasting 94, James Park Johnson 36, while Greg Cameron and Rob Farrar were unbeaten on 31 and 29 respectively.
Presentation College Chaguanas were humiliated by St Leonard’s Boys by 144 runs in another Zone A fixture, at Content Ground.
The hosts were dismissed for 222 in 39.2 overs with Javed Forde scoring 52, Renaldo Boyce 47 not out, Deswin Currency 38 and Shakeel Turney 32 not out.
Kristian Seepersad got 3/40 for Presentation, while Jerome Gibbs had 2/29 and Raoul Pitiram 2/51.
Gyaci Cuffie scored 31 but his teammates failed to make any score of note as Presentation were skittled out for 78 in 23 overs.
Shkym Haynes had 3/12, Currency 3/19 and Turney 3/26 for St Leonard’s.
And Queen’s Park Cricket Club fell to a 60-run trouncing by Dominica Schools at Briar Hall, in a Zone B meeting.
Dominica Schools were bowled out for 165 in 39 overs with Kassim Peltier hitting 37, Shervon Dorsette 32 not out, Deon Burton 29 and Rahim Prosper 21.
Taking the wickets for Queen’s Park were Kavan Byrne (3/25), Jason Batson (2/21) and Matthew Da Costa (2/33).
The Parkites were only able to muster 105 in reply, in 26.5 overs, with Peltier claiming 4/23, Jean-Phillipe Barrie 2/16, Jervon Raphael 2/17 and Brian Joseph 2/32. Offering lone resistance with the bat was Jonathan Bootan with 29.
