Fatima, Queen’s Park triumph at Sir Garry Cricket

FATIMA COLLEGE and Queen’s Park triumphed on Monday, as the 29th annual Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools’ Cricket Tournament bowled off in Barbados.

In Group A, Fatima strolled past fellow Trinidad school Presentation College Chaguanas by 56 runs while Queen’s Park got past The Lodge School by five wickets in a Group B fixture.

At the Pine Basin Ground, Fatima amassed a score of 178 runs for five wickets in 34 overs. Sean Persaud led the way with 46, while Joshua Araugo-Wilson made 29 and Wendell George 23 not out. Kyle Khan got two wickets for 39 for Presentation Chaguanas.

In their response, Presentation were restricted to 121/7 in their 34 overs with Donovan Clayton taking 3/35 and Anand Lochan 2/18. Kristoff Lewis scored 26 while Sachin Sooker and Gyasi Cuffie chipped in with 23 apiece.

Also on Monday, at the Greens Ground, the Parkites kept The Lodge School to 104/8 in 30 overs. Janmali Lynch made 28 for The Lodge while Jason Batson took 2/19 for the Parkites.

Batson returned with the bat to score an unbeaten 37 as Queen’s Park raced to 107/5 in 17.5 overs. Joshua DaSilva was not out on 23 while Karris Romain made 19.

Jamani Drakes took 2/19 and Nicholas Benn 2/29 for The Lodge School.
