UNBEATEN 52: Nathaniel McDavid
An unbroken 90-run seventh wicket partnership between Nathaniel McDavid and Saiba Batoosingh led the Trinidad and Tobago Under-17 to comfortable four-wicket win over the Leeward Islands in the opening round of the West Indies Cricket Board Under-17 Championships in Tobago, yesterday.
Playing at Louis D’Or, McDavid slammed an unbeaten 52 off 39 balls with four sixes and four fours while Batoosingh hit 40 off 50 balls with six fours to guide T&T to 208 for six off 35.5 overs after dismissing the Leewards for 207.
Keagan Simmons also chipped in with 51 off 59 balls with nine fours at the top of the innings to steady the chase after the hosts lost Cephas Cooper and Crystian Thurton cheaply.
Batoosingh and McDavid come together with the score on 118 for six and could not be separated.
Earlier the Leewards threatened to put on a big total after being sent in to bat. They were well set at 96 for one before their innings started to unravel.
Michael Lewis hit 53 off 75 balls before falling to the Kirstan Kallicharan with the score on 96.
Jerrilous Louis battled with 65 off 109 balls to get the score past 200 as the other batsmen fell around him without making much of an impact.
He was the last man out, bowled by Batoosingh while McDavid picked up two for 48.
